From peer-to-peer and video fundraising to virtual, hybrid, and live streaming events (and more), join us for a discussion of the current trends in the nonprofit sector. How do these trends affect your organization, your board, and workplace culture?


Leading the discussion are three successful nonprofit leaders, Susan Hayes, Kyra Kazantis and Phil Marcoux


This panel discussion is for Board members and Executive Directors that want to improve the success of their nonprofit.

Admission is free. However, attendance is limited to 15 persons. Please register early to be sure of your ability to attend.

Kyra Kazantis

Kyra Kazantzis is the CEO of the Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits. She previously was a senior policy advisor to San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and a longtime attorney. Kazantzis previously served on the SVCN Board of Directors for five years. Before joining Liccardo’s office, Kazantzis served as a longtime directing attorney at the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley and co-founded its innovative Fair Housing Law Project. She was with the Law Foundation for 25 years. In that role, she led teams of attorneys in conducting research, policy advocacy and litigation in areas such as fair housing, affordable housing, civil rights, inmate rights, consumer protection, disability rights and poverty.

Susan Hayes

From 1996 to 2015 Susan Hayes served as president & CEO of ReSurge International (formerly Interplast, Inc.) where she ushered ReSurge through a strategic evolution from a direct service organization to one also educating overseas medical professionals and building permanent surgical capacity in developing countries. Hayes came to ReSurge with 16 years of management, fundraising and media experience in public broadcasting and previously was a political science instructor at Syracuse University and the University of South Carolina and a policy analyst at think tank Syracuse Research Corporation. She has served on a number of nonprofit boards throughout her career and currently serves on the boards of the SPOON foundation, the National Captioning Institute, and Good Karma Bikes. Her honors include a 1998 Outstanding Women of Silicon Valley award, a 2002 Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award, a 2012 Silicon Valley Business Journal Health Care Heroes Award; and the 2015 William C Lazier Leadership Award from ReSurge International. Hayes holds BA and MA degrees from the University of South Carolina in government & international studies, an MA in political science from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University, and completed PhD coursework in political science at the Maxwell School. She is an alumnus of the Stanford Graduate School Business Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders. Hayes was actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa from 1973 to 1990, and has pursued a lifelong commitment to eliminating racism and promoting women’s rights. In retirement she provides pro-bono counsel to a variety of domestic and international nonprofits.

Phil Marcoux

Volunteer mentor with SCORE Silicon Valley, member Board of Directors Hope's Corner, and mentor for the Bronco Accelerator Santa Clara University. Just added Streetcode Academy (Streetcode.org) and the new PCEA as groups I'm helping.

Past member Advisory Board College of Engineering University of Florida, and past member MEPTEC Advisory Board.

Mentor and Coach in Business Development, Partnerships and Intellectual Property Commercialization in the Electronics industry. Subject matter expert in Artificial Intelligence Process Control and Management for electronics assembly.

Author of >250 business plans, elevator speeches, technical and general business presentations and articles. These have resulted in raising several million dollars in venture capital, industrial, and private equity and debt funds. Presenter and session organizer for >100 technical and business symposiums. Named "Father of Surface Mount Technology(SMT)" electronic assembly in the US by the IPC.

CEO and Co-Founder of one the first Wafer Level Packaging (WLP) companies, ChipScale, Inc. CEO and Co-Founder of one the first full-service SMT EMS companies. Named Inventor in six patents and co-owner of 40+ patents covering high performance and wafer level semiconductor packaging, radar, Image Sensors and Camera Modules. Past VP of the Fab Owners Assn Packaging and Test Group.
